Every year we take our interns to serve in Botswana on an outreach trip. Our two weeks at Love Botswana Outreach Mission are always a highlight of the year for our interns. This isn’t your typical mission trip. We don’t ask for ministry opportunities to be set up for us. We make ourselves available to the missionaries and ask them to put us to work doing whatever would be the biggest help to them. Sometimes that has included preaching, teaching, running a youth service, or facilitating children’s church. But the bulk of our time is typically spent doing work that most mission teams don’t really want to do… In past years, we’ve dug trenches, leveled a soccer field, and sanded floors for days on end.

Niel, Dave, and Kelly left with our interns Monday morning. After driving for two days straight, they arrived in Maun, Botswana last night. They’ll be there for the next two weeks, helping to fix up one of the houses on Love Botswana’s mission base. Through it all, they’re striving to be an encouragement and blessing to the missionaries and other staff there.

I’m proud of our interns and know they will be giving their all to serve God and others these next few weeks. I’d appreciate your prayers for their health, safety, and unity while they’re gone.

    Dumela, :)
I’ve always thought it was amazing that you committed such a huge chunk of time to serving another ministry. That really demonstrates what is really in your heart. And I’ve always wanted to go with you.

Sometime- all of us “blogging” Botswana alums need to do a reunion… on their soil!!! And a trip to the Marange Lodge in Francistown would certainly be in order!

Praying for your staff team as they are serving… and for you, being w/o them!

The Word says, “Give and it shall be given to you, pressed down, shaken together and running over…”
Luke 6:38 As you are pouring out and giving to the church in Botwana, my prayer is that each of you and the Ministry at Thrive will be blessed beyond measure. Our prayers are with you for strength, guidance and an abundant heart of love for those you will help assist in the days to come. God bless each of you! Yeah Botswana is a pretty great place. And man is there a lot of work there! I helped clear the plot that the big church tent is no in 2006. We stayed at Love Botswana (in tents). It has to be one of the most challenging and great experiences of my life.
