More About Thrive

Thrive Africa is all about guiding people to become fully-devoted followers of Christ and equipping them to be leaders who are highly competent and strong in character.

Our mission is to equip and mobilize indigenous leaders to become strategic, Godly influences in their cultural communities. Our model of ministry is based on II Timothy 2:2: “…Teach these great truths to trustworthy people who are able to pass them on to others.”

We train pastors, teach discipleship classes, promote AIDS prevention through abstinence, and inspire young people through our youth camps.

It all begins with leadership

We believe strongly in the need to train next generation leaders. Launching strong, Godly leaders into all realms of society is key for true, lasting change in Africa.

With 90% of church leaders having no formal training, the Church in Africa is often referred to as being a mile wide but only an inch deep. Only a strategic transformation in leadership will turn this trend around.

It will take a revolution of God-inspired leaders to reverse the challenges of poverty, HIV/AIDS, and crime that grip this nation.

Our ministry is focused on the Basotho (pronounced “ba-soo-too”) tribe living throughout Intabazwe and Qwa Qwa, rural township areas surrounding the town of Harrismith. Home to over 1 million people, this region has been declared the poorest area of the country: 88% are unemployed and 75% experience chronic hunger.

The mission base

Mission Base

In 2002, we purchased a game reserve as our mission base. 2,500 acres of sprawling countryside serve as the base of operations for the entire ministry. The mission base empowers us to be a catalyst of change in this nation as we use it to impact lives, launch leaders, and strategically mobilize the local body of Christ.
