“We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God, but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8
Relationship evangelism
Relationship evangelism is our primary avenue of outreach. The idea is to build relationships with people by connecting with them, asking questions, sharing your own life experiences, and serving them in love. This lays a foundation to effectively share the Gospel.
Your team will be split into ministry groups of 4-6 people with an interpreter. Each ministry group gets its own area to focus on each day, visiting people in their homes. Ministry groups typically spend two days visiting each family, building relationships through conversation and helping with household chores.
Other ministry opportunities
- Children’s club
Every child needs to hear that Christ has a purpose for her life and that she is loved by Him. You will be amazed at how quickly children will gather if they see a soccer ball or hear music. We will supply you with a lesson plan for successful children’s ministry in an after school kids’ club format. - Planting gardens
Leave each family a tangible reminder of God’s love and care for them. Each ministry group will be given the tools and supplies to plant a vegetable garden for each household they minister to. - Building projects around the base
If you’d like to help out with some projects around the base, we can definitely put you to work. In the past, teams have helped us build and maintain cabins, fences, storerooms, etc. Typically teams fund any projects they desire to be involved in. - Hospital visitation
Sickness and HIV/AIDS are harsh realities in Africa. We regularly take teams into a local hospital where they can visit the patients and pray for their needs.
Stretched and pulled
You and your team may experience some things for the first time. You will be stretched emotionally as you sit in a small house with a kind family who offers you the last of their tea. You might embark on an interesting adventure of plastering a house with cow dung (that perked up your ears, didn’t it?). You may get to share your faith in Christ for the very first time. You will see eyes and hearts open to the Gospel message. One thing is for sure, you will make an impact on this country.
